Born to Nevisian parents this UK based soulful jazz singer Denise Gordon has performed around the world from Australia to Zimbabwe!
Influenced by her rich Afro-Caribbean musical heritage she has been singing from the age of 3!!
Denise grew up attending church and this is where her natural ability to sing was first encourage by her mother, thus with her style firmly rooted in Gospel, she can express an array of styles; performing anything from Jazz, through Funk, Soul, Rhythm ‘n’ Blues & Spirituals, leaving her audiences in no doubt that they have witnessed something exceptional.
Denise tours frequently throughout Europe, can be seen regularly in Germany and Switzerland, performed at Jazz Ascona festival & in the U.S the beloved city of New Orleans at the prestigious, Preservation Hall. In countries as far away as Australia, Brazil and China & Hong Kong and at home in the UK in venues as varied as Buckingham Palace, Glastonbury, T in the Park, and Edinburgh Festival, adapting her style from the smallest and most intimate venues to the largest theatres.
Her soul remains deeply rooted in Gospel, and with her New Orleans-based band presents traditional & contemporary flavours of Soul, Funk, Latin and R&B… so that’s all in a days’ work with some unforgettable nights for this International Singer-Songwriter.
This summer sees a NEW ALBUM recorded in her spiritual home, New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz…! Featuring outstanding musicians from the city Wendell Brunius (Trumpet) Thaddeus Richard (Piano) Jesse Boyd (Bass) and Gerald “G-Funk” French (Drums) and including two originals “Puppy Don’t Follow” and “Voodoo Blues”.
